Support Your Favorite Spot.Us Pitch – Embed a Spot.Us Widget

Lots of people ask how they can help Spot.Us in addition to (or in replace of) donating money. While I urge everyone to give just $5, which I don’t think is too much to ask of most people, I do want there to be a meaningful way people can contribute to Spot.Us pitches outside of money. In the future this will include comments, acts of citizen journalism and more.

But for now: The best way to help is by spreading the word. Find a pitch that speaks to you and be the community organizer that helps raise $50 for it (that is just finding 5 friends to donate $10, as easy as sending 5 emails). Find a pitch you want to see completed and blog it, put it on your Facebook, tweet it, etc.

And to help you in this vein, I’ve created the following widgets for some of the more popular Spot.Us campaigns right now.

Just click “share” on the bottom right of any of these widgets and you can embed it on your blog, Facebook, etc.

    Make some smaller widgets too! These are a bit big for many blogs’ limited real estate.

    I would be most inclined to give permanent space to a general spot.us widget which contains a changing (scrolling? constantly updated?) list of stories in search of funders. Something not wider than 160 px.

    Not that I have a ton of readers, but perhaps other bloggers with better traffic than I get would feel similarly.
