Get Some SF Truthiness Before You Vote

An email I sent out earlier today.

This will be the last email about the SF Election Truthiness Campaign, which has been a smashing success.

We’ve received national attention from the NY Times and PBS for our innovative fundraising strategy and local attention from the SF Weekly and SF Usual Suspects for our quality reporting.

We raised $2,500 from 74 individuals giving an average of $33 each.

With it we produced 11 articles and fact-checked dozens of campaign flyers.

You can see the results here: http://wiki.spot.us/election

This was a collaborative effort and was also the pilot effort of Spot.Us – a nonprofit trying to pioneer “community funded reporting.”

…..(represents stuff I’ll go more public with after the election, since it’s not “Truthiness related”)….

Thank you all for your help in producing the SF Election Truthiness Campaign. We believe very strongly that local reporting is vital to our democracy. You can rest assured we will constantly be moving forward in that vein and we invite you to join us.
