Alexis Madrigal Is Doing "Spot Reporting"

On Monday we announced the first successful pitch on Spot Us. But, to be honest, we are only halfway there. We raised the money for a reporter (and the check is already in the mail) but now the reporter has to do the work.

Luckily the first pitch comes to us from an experienced and motivated environmental reporter Alexis Madrigal. Alexis has been invited to blog here at Spot Us in a new category we’ve created called “Spot Reporting.” He is dedicated to the idea of reporting in public so you can follow him while he researches and reports on ethanol in California.

But don’t take my word for it.

Most likely the next post that will appear in the “Spot Reporting” category of this blog will come from Alexis himself. I personally like the idea of Spot Us reporters using this new blog category as their own space to report in public as Alexis says “keeping the people, in particular the funders, but the entire Spot Us community informed about how the pitch is changing why the story is going to come out this way or another way and also hopefully provide a resource for anyone else who wants to look at this topic again.”

Right as I was leaving Alexis got on the phone to start reporting. Exciting stuff.
